WHAT IS THE ECRT?
The Emergency Communications Response Team is the public service aspect of the Federal Way Amateur Radio Club.  The ECRT provides backup radio communications and other support to governmental and civic agencies in the times of emergency or disaster.  Some of the ECRT team members also support other non-emergent public service functions such as the Federal Way Festival Days parade and activities, as well as many of the Seafair events in the Puget Sound area.

MISSION STATEMENT
To provide timely, reliable, and accurate radio communications to local, state, and federal government agencies in times of emergency or disaster.

GOALS:
  • Recruit and train a pool of emergency communications operators qualified to serve as backup emergency communicators when and where circumstances require.
  • To deploy emergency communications operators quickly, and in sufficient numbers to be an asset to the agency or organization requesting support.
  • To provide an outbound "Health & Welfare" messaging service to the citizens living and working in the City of Federal Way and the surrounding area.
  • To support the city of Federal Way's Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) program by providing emergency communications to disaster stricken neighborhoods.
  • To utilize those emergency communications operators wisely, safely, and with regard and respect for the effort they make and the service they provide.
  • To assist those operators in enhancing their experience as emergency service workers.
  • To provide reassurance to officials and citizens of the City of Federal Way and surrounding area that communications will be available to them during times of emergency or disaster.

MEETINGS
The ECRT meets at the South King Fire & Rescue Station 62 on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM.  Station 62 is located at 31617 1st Ave South.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  Membership in the Federal Way Amateur Radio Club is not a requirement to participate in this program.
