Field Day 2025 will be held at Lakota Park located at 31334 SW Dash Point Rd, Federal Way, WA 98023.
The primary goal of our Field Day is to have fun and learn something about radio that you may not know or have never done. We will be operating Field Day using the Incident Command System structure, but the goal is to have fun and to learn. ICS is being used so that we can document our Field Day for use in the future.
The secondary goals is to contact as many stations as possible on the 80, 40, 20,15 and 10 Meter HF bands. We will also have 2-Meters, 70-Centemters available on both analog FM and D-STAR.
We will be operating on 100% Emergency Power, to include generators and Solar/Batteries.
We will have 2 - Club HF Stations cable of transmitting and receiving on 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 Meters. These will be the two primary operating positions using the callsign WA7FW. Modes of operation will be SSB voice and CW. The Club's equipment is not currently setup for Digital Modes, but that will be available at another station outside of operating Field Day as 2A (See Below).
We will also have a guest table for those members wishing to to bring their HF radio from home and to try and get on the air. This station will not be part of the club's Field Day Operating Class, which is 2A, but personal callsigns can be used to get on the air.
We will also have a Get On The Air (GOTA) Station that will use the callsign WA7DR. The GOTA station can be used by licensed hams who have not been on HF before or by non-licensed visitors, who want to get on the air and give it try! There will be plenty of control operators which will allow anyone on the GOTA station to use any part of the band for Field Day.
Additional activities include:
* Antenna Building presentation and hands on exercise
* Demonstration of Digital Modes (FT8, VARA AC/HF)
* Solar Power operations
* Low Power (QRP) Setup and operations
* A BBQ will be held at closing after Field Day Operations have ended
* Training on erecting our Antenna Masts
If you are interested in participating with fellow club members, or you want to bring your radio in to get it on the air, or maybe you just want to use the GOTA station, please let WB7NIL know so we can make sure you are setup for success.
