Emergency Communications Response Team
The FWARC's Emergency Communications Response Team (ECRT) is the public service aspect of the Federal Way Amateur Radio Club. The ECRT provides backup radio communications and other support to governmental and civic agencies in the greater Federal Way area in times of emergency or disaster. Mission Statement
To provide timely, reliable, and accurate radio communications to local, state, and federal government agencies in times of emergency or disaster as directed by the City of Federal Way.
Goals
The Federal Way Emergency Communications Response Team strives to:
- Provide reliable communications support to the Greater Federal Way Community Emergency Management program, including the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and neighborhood‑level response efforts during disasters.
- Maintain a trained and qualified team of emergency communications operators capable of supporting local agencies, CERT, and NET programs during emergencies and planned events.
- Utilize volunteer communications personnel responsibly and safely, with respect for their time, skills, and commitment to public service.
- Promote continuous training and skill development to ensure operators remain proficient, adaptable, and capable of providing dependable communications resources during emergencies or disasters.
- Deliver essential Health and Welfare messaging services for residents and workers in Federal Way and surrounding communities to support situational awareness and family reunification.
Monthly ECRT Meetings
